Recent Purchases

I bought a Sony DL DVD Burner a month or so ago. Some must have programs for it if you are going to backup your movies are AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. I also went out and bought a Sirius Sportster Replay so now I can listen to satellite radio. Sirius > XM.

Other than that I've been working, working, and then drinking while watching football on Saturday/Sunday. This time of year weekends are great, especially if the teams I want win.

I'll finally be able to listen to some of the Jayhawks basketball games this year with Sirius since they cover the Big 12, one of the main reasons why Sirius owns XM. Not to mention, Sirius also plays EVERY NFL game, so you can't argue with that. And obviously, since I have been working now I haven't played any poker for awhile, just not in the mood.

Pretty shitty update, but I never claimed to be a good writer.

Bodog Blackjack Update

posted 07.14.05 by decipher in Life (No comments) permalink
Just a quick update on my friends $550 profit from a couple days of blackjack at Bodog, he lost it all. Yup, even his intial $100 buyin. Goes to show you can make money fast playing blackjack, but you can lose it back just as quickly.

I also have decided to stick strictly to SnG's with my little bankroll just for fun. Apparently, I suck right now and don't want to go into details but basically I played 5 1 table tournaments and 1 heads-up and ended the day -$.25. Afterwards I created a little spreadsheet to keep track of my results in Excel, so if I start doing better I might post the results here every so often.

A little bit of Blackjack

posted 07.12.05 by decipher in Life (No comments) permalink
A buddy of mine has come over a couple times this week and decided to deposit a hundred bucks into an online casino. After a bit of looking around and playing the play money at a few sites, we settled on Bodog. They offered a 20% bonus on your first deposit, not exactly a lot of cash, but a free 20 bucks.

So the first day he put $50 down on the craps table and within 10-15 minutes was down to $1. We moved on to Blackjack with another $50, and by the end of the evening had run that up to over $100 in profit, so with the initial depost bonus and his profit, he was up $120 for his $100 deposit.

Then he decided to come over last night and try his luck again. Needless to say he couldn't lose, other than a few minor times. He ran his money up and had an overall profit of $500. Then he let me play poker for a bit, just on a little .10/.25 NL table. I sat down with $20 and within maybe an hour or so had doubled it to $60. Then he started to play some blackjack again and started to donk away almost $100 before he ran it all back up to what he sat at before.

It's amazing and I have no idea how he is up $550 for about 5-6 hours worth of blackjack, just from his initial $100 deposit. Perhaps I should switch games.

[edit:] Forgot to mention that I have about $150 in Pokerstars now and basically keep going up and down around that mark playing the micro-NL cash games. I'm probably going to switch to some SnG's again soon.

Birthday Celebration

So yesterday was my girlfriend's birthday. She's only a young 23 years of age, and I surprised her by sending flowers to her salon. After she and I both got off of work we went out with a few friends to Charlie Peppers for some beers and food. The real celebration is this Saturday at Calhoun's on the river. It's also the guy I've been helping out recently birthday on Saturday, so it's a combined party.

Concert and such

So I am finally done with all my traveling for awhile. Now I really have to concentrate on getting a job. It doesn't necessarily have to be a great one. It's been so long and staying at home all day is getting boring.

I spent the good deal of the past couple of days downloading some music. (Dave Matthews Band, Kid Rock, & Sublime) And come July, we are planning on going to see DMB in concert in Nashville, TN. Should be a really good time, we just need to figure out what we will do with Kenzie and Wallace for the night.

Keeping myself busy

So the Kansas Jayhawks lost last night to Bucknell in the first round. That sucks, but it was bound to happen to us. Thanks to the seniors for all the great times: Wayne Simien, Keith Langford, Aaron Miles, and Michael Lee. It'll be interesting to see what next years freshman class of Micah Downs, Mario Chalmers, and Julian Wright along with transfer Rodrick Stewart can do.

Have also been working on designing a couple website for some people, but I won't link to them as they are no where near finished. And finally, I'm getting ready to leave for Gatlinburg today. Already got directions there, and then from there to the airport so I can leave for Texas. Now the chaos of traveling will begin in around 7 hours.

Traveling ...

posted 03.15.05 by decipher in Life (No comments) permalink
This next week is going to be a rather busy one for me, on Saturday to early Monday morning me, my girlfriend, and another couple will be going to stay in a cabin in Gatlinburg. The place is on the water, although it's too cold at this time to do anything in it, has a hot tub, pool table, darts, and wet bar. So we'll basically spend the weekend drinking and relaxing, away from the big city of Knoxville. (sarcasm)

Now we are supposed to be out of the cabin by 11:00, but I have to be at the airport for a 12:10 flight to goto Bandera, TX. And apparently, there are some new regulations about what you can carry-on and so I have to go get some matchbooks because lighters are on the prohibited list now. This doesn't fully goto affect until April 15, but I would rather not have to deal with security if I don't have to.

So I get back from Texas on Thursday night at around 7:00, only to have to get ready to leave again to drive on Friday to Columbus, OH for the Easter weekend. We will be coming back on Monday when finally life will be back to normal for me.

Man I'm tired

Well I bought my new monitor today from Sams Club. It sure opened up a lot of space on my desk now, not sure what to do with it all. (Will probably just end up pilling more crap on it.)

I have to go help out a friend on a job tomorrow in Chattanooga. Won't be doing anything too hard but I'll be earning a couple bucks. Might as well do something since I have the time. Spent the rest of my evening watching the final home game for KU's 4 seniors Aaron Miles, Keith Langford, Michael Lee, and Wayne Simien. They played Kansas State University and although it was never it a blow out I wasn't too worried about the outcome.

edit: Forgot to mention that the Kennel Helper thing didn't work out. After waiting for over half an hour for the person to interview me (with nary an apology once she finally was ready), it just didn't seem like the place I wanted to work. The lady was basically someone I wouldn't want to work for and it almost seemed as if she thought the job was more important that it really was, taking it way more seriously then I thought. She told me to call back on Saturday at 11:00am and needless to say I had a better time sleeping.
